Casualty star talks about hair loss
Casualty fans have been gripped by the real-life drama taking place in former cast member Rebekah Gibbs’ life, as she has spent the past few months battling breast cancer.
But in her latest weekly blog for the Mirror, there’s a surprise in store for the actress’s growing army of devotees – a beautiful portrait of the star without hair.
In a video diary, Gibbs explained: “This was the week I’ve been waiting for in terms of losing hair and it’s happened and I feel really good about it.”
Sporting a gorgeous headscarf, the star continued: “On the Saturday, it was coming out, so I phoned my hairdresser and she cut it really short and choppy. That was great.
“Three days later and I woke up and it was everywhere and I thought ‘I can’t actually cope with this’. I was finding bits on the teats on the bottle and I thought ‘take control’, so I did and I feel really liberated and that was what I was dreading.”
Cradling daughter Gigi, Gibbs spoke briefly about the support she has received form the public, saying: “People who have left messages and come up to me in the street and it’s so positive.”
She also talked about her medication, saying: “I am still doing conventional medicine but am incorporating it with acupuncture and Sea-Bands.”
Gibbs added: “I also got a CD and have no idea how it works, but it taps into the balancing and is associated with morning and sea sickness.
“It obviously works on another level and inner ear balancing and it can stop you feeling sick or alleviate the symptoms, which is a real plus.”
